INTRASET 017: meditate - ktunaxa (kootenays)

MUSICAL DIRECTION:

In the first of three compilation albums directed at sleep and meditation, we’ll be calling on participants to use a number of field recordings gathered from a remote location on the Slocan River in eastern British Columbia. The most notable sample in the series is of a distant flock of trumpeter swans— this geographical area is one of the only places in the world where they congregate in such numbers.

We’re looking for calming, textured pieces without a tonne of pronounced melodic elements. Gentle, undulating pieces that “feel good”, conveying a “neither here nor there” sentiment, while at the same time staying away from prescriptive and cloyingly uplifting “spa music” in an effort to pay homage the quiet, ambling nonchalance of winter in rural eastern BC forests.
